Upwork Skill Tests Removed/Retired

Just got email from Upwork about this, and I am glad they gonna remove it on July 9. I honestly didn't find it valuable and did some marketing, SEO tests.

  • Test questions didn't have sense. It was like they covered mainstream/formal educational books, and based questions on that. On other hand, Upwork is Freelance platform, and most of people on it work from home and are self thought
  • Tests are not up to date
  • You can cheat on tests by Googling Upwork Tests

At the end with all above mentioned, it doesn't provide reliable indicator or measurement to determine the skill level.

Anyway, glad they removed it. 👍

Good companies does actual programming tests. Such as Toptal, crossweaver etc will require you to solve real projects and you might have to take such test again later to determine your improved talent.

I cannot see candidates contact info on free version. And it connects to another paid service called worktable. Maybe this will help a HR from big company, but I feel it's too expensive for startups.
